Immunisations
Children: Immunisations are essential to protect children from serious illness.The surgery provides the full range of childhood immunisations.
Adults: Most vaccinations are given by the Practice Nurses. Most travel vaccinations, along with comprehensive travel advice are available from the Practice Nurses by appointment only.
Childhood Vaccinations
All Children should be given protection against the diseases of Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Polio, Mumps, Measles, Haemophilus influenzae type B (HiB), German Measles (Rubella), Pneumococcal infection and Meningitis C (MenC). These inoculations can be given even if your child has a cold providing the temperature is not raised.

UK Vaccination Schedule:

2 months old:

First Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Polio and HiB - one injection

First Pneumococcal infection - one injection
3 months old:
w
Second Diphtheria, Tetanus, (Pertussis) Whooping Cough, Polio, HiB - one injection
w
First Meningitis C - one injection
4 months old:
w
Third Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Polio, HiB - one injection
w
Second Meningitis C - one injection
w
Second Pneumococcal - one injection

12 months old:
w
Third booster dose of HiB/Men C - one injection

13 months old:
w
First Mumps, Measles, Rubella (German Measles) - one injection
w
Third Pneumococcal infection - one injection

3 years 4 months and 5 years:
w
Booster Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Polio - one injection
w
Second Mumps, Measles, Rubella (German Measles) - one injection

13 to 18 years:
w
Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio Boosters - one injection

10 to 14 years:
w
BCG (against tuberculosis)

Please tell the Nurse if your child has a fever, takes steroids, has a serious disease, has allergies particular to eggs, has a strong reaction to any previous inoculations or has a parent or brother or sister who has suffered from epilepsy.
